Α clay sign, which was ascertained to carry 13 lyrics from the rhapsody ξ of the Odyssey, was discovered after 3 years of investigations at Ancient Olympia.
According to the first estimation, as the Ministry of Culture refers, the clay can be dated to the Roman Times, possibly before the 3d century BC. If the dated is confirmed, “then the clay sign would preserve the oldest written extract from both the Iliada end Odyssey that has ever been revealed and besides the uniqueness, it will also be one great archaeological, philological and historical evidence”.
As the Ministry refers, the discovery took place during a surface and underground investigation, included at a 3-year investigation program titled “The multidimensional Olympia”, which was held around the temple.
